The Humpday Update- Tips and Tricks

Friends and fellow gamers, this week I thought I might treat you to some tips and tricks for team Halo play.  As most of you know, Close Quarters is this Saturday!  And we all want you to be playing your best.  Lets get to work.

PRE GAME SETS
When playing with a full team of people you know, it is important to know the strengths, weaknesses, and playing styles of every team member.  This way you can mold your team around each other, the more cohesive you are the more unstoppable you become.  Things to keep in mind-
  • Who is a precision player? (favors precision weapons)
  • Who is a spam player? (favors automatic weapons)
  • Who is the bait man?
  • Who is the flank-and-shanker?
Moving on. Once you have your teams playing style down it is good to have structured plans.  Each team member plays an intricate part in achieving victory, so it is obviously a good idea to work together.  While in lobby discuss the game type and map chosen and the team you are facing.  KNOW THE LAYOUT OF EVERY MAP!!  Teams who can get to power weapons faster, know the choke points, hot spots, and exit routs will dominate the map.

IN GAME SETS
The first and very crucial decision in every game is what loadouts your team will choose.  Be sure to choose loadouts that will work well with your team.  This is where play style comes into play.  A team of diverse loadouts will give you an advantage, and it will also help to have 2 that you can switch back and forth from to keep the other team guessing.

The second after the initial spawn it is important to know where the power weapons are and how to get to them fast.  If your team misses the initial spawn rush, be sure you know how to counter all the power weapons.  If you are playing a game type where there are no power weapons, isolate the hot spots and choke points and control the map.

Once the carnage unfolds keep your team together.  And by together I mean in helping distance.  You don't want to be a clustered target for grenades or rockets, or too separated to be picked off one by one.  Be close enough together so that you can have more than one gun on an enemy at a time.  Also, be close enough together to organize flank maneuvers and ambushes.

Trick- If you are holding a power weapon and it runs out of ammo, hold onto it.  Go to the spawn location and pick up a nearby weapon.  Once you drop the empty weapon a new, fresh, beautiful power weapon will usually be re-spawned just for you.

If your team acquires a commanding lead, watch out for acts of desperation.  A team who is cut out to lose will undoubtedly abandon pre set strategies and turn berserk.  Your team must be outfitted to overcome the swarms of an angry losing team.  They will throw lots of grenades, they will come in guns blazing, and they will come for blood.  How do you counter? If your team is in this situation, you probably have all the power weapons at your disposal.  So, when the enemy team rushes all from the same direction, run a flank-and-shank.  Depending on the speed and execution, your whole team should survive.  On wave two run something different.  Do not be overwhelmed by their frenzy.  A team blind by anger is easy kills for an organized unit.

Above all things, be vocal.  Communicate.  If there is an enemy tea bagging the needler on second level with his pistol drawn and a plasma repeater secondary, your team should know about it.  Maybe not that detailed, but you get the point.  Four sets of eyes are better than one. Use that to your advantage.

POST GAME SETS
If you win the game (which you should), be courteous and 'good game' the other team.  Sportsmanship is golden.

Secondly, check the stats and analyze where you could do better, where you did well, and then move on to the next round.

CLOSE QUARTERS IS HERE!
As I mentioned before, Close Quarters is upon us.  The carnage will break loose at 6:00 sharp Saturday.  I will work out the schedule and get it posted.  Pizza and Dew will be provided at $1 for 2 slices and a drink.  If you have friends that want to come watch but are not on a team, bring them along.  I hope you all are as excited as I am.

FACE PALM OF THE WEEK
This weeks facepalm of the week goes to those who we all have immense feelings for.  Those who speak noobish.
